Moss Sporophytes on Brick

Moss sporophytes are rising from a narrow band of moss that sits in a seam on a weathered brick surface. Thin yellow-green stalks topped with tiny brown capsules stand above bright green cushions, photographed low with soft, diffuse light and a shallow depth of field that blurs the gray-red brick behind them. A few capsule tips hold tiny droplets and a pale white line runs along the mortar groove in the frame.
