Agaric Gills Underside
Agaric gills form the underside of a fungal cap and extend down toward the stem. The photograph is monochrome with soft backlighting that brightens the thin, wavy gill edges against a deep black background, and a shallow depth of field keeps only the cap rim sharply defined. A slender plant blade crosses the foreground, its tiny marginal hairs and fine striations visible where it catches light.
