Moss Sporophyte Capsules

Moss sporophyte capsules rise on thin stalks from a low patch of moss at ground level. The frame shows green and brown capsules and orange-brown stalks against a soft gray, out-of-focus background, shot from a very low angle. A couple of capsules have pale white tips and fine fibrous threads lie among the moss in the foreground.
