Tangled Dried Shrub Rootlets

Tangled dried shrub rootlets sit against a dark backdrop and fill the horizontal frame. The thin roots are pale beige and gray, side-lit with a shallow depth of field that keeps the center strands sharp and the edges soft. Many of the rootlets show tiny knobby nodes and a fine fibrous surface visible at close range.
