Woodlouse Partly Buried in Soil

A woodlouse lies partly buried in loose soil near the lower center of the frame. The photograph is black-and-white with dark tones, a narrow plane of sharp focus on the shell, and heavily blurred foreground and background. Fine grains of soil cling to the segmented ridges of its exoskeleton.
